Small Groups

Small Groups provide social opportunities and camaraderie for BCRC members to get to know each other better, enjoy shared interests, and have fun. We are always interested in ideas for new Small Groups!

Beth Chaim small groups are here for you.

Join a group, make new friends, create deeper connections, and have some fun. It all starts with shared interests. We keep it small, self-directed and let the groups evolve into something fun and something lasting.

All members are welcome.

It is time to socialize!

Existing Groups to Join

  • Hiking

A group of individuals who love the outdoors and enjoy walking/hiking/chatting with BC friends. We schedule walks/hikes once a month…weather permitting.

We have ventured to Valley Forge Park, Longwood Gardens, Chester County Trail, and other interesting locations throughout the area.

Join the group to receive regular email notices and reply about your availability.

  • Poker Club

We have a weekly, low stakes "neighborhood" game that is as much about socializing as it is about poker. We play live at Beth Chaim the first Wednesday of the month and then online the remaining Wednesdays from 7:30 -9:30.

Members are free to play whenever they are available. Our group includes men and women of all ages. We are always looking for new members. Beginners welcome.

  • Ladies Who Lunch

A group of women who meet for a casual lunch at different restaurants around the area approximately once each month. We vary the day of the week and the venue to accommodate those who would like to participate; currently, we are planning for Thursdays, with occasional Tuesdays, at 12:30pm.

Join the group to receive regular email notices and reply about your availability. Suggestions for restaurants are welcome.

  • Ladies Night Out

A group of women who meet for dinner at different restaurants once each month. We schedule for weeknights at 6:00pm, traveling around the area to try new locations. Join the group to receive regular email notices and reply about your availability.

  • Investment Club

A group of individuals with an interest in investing. We meet twice a month on Sunday mornings…once in person at Beth Chaim at 10:00am and once via Zoom at 9:30am. Anyone is welcome to attend, but to participate in voting on the investment portfolio requires a financial investment in the club.

Discussions revolve around what the economy might be doing and where it might be going, suggested stocks and sectors, and other topics that come up. It’s a wonderful opportunity to socialize and to learn.

  • Restaurant Explorers

A group of “foodies” who meet for dinner at different restaurants monthly (normally on Saturday nights), rotate who selects the restaurant, love to try different cuisines, and enjoy socializing with each other. We keep this group intentionally small to ensure we can kibbutz with everyone at our dinners…so when one Restaurant Explorers group reaches size capacity, we start a new one. *At capacity

  • Shabbat Dinners

A group of individuals who meet for Shabbat dinner. *At capacity

  • Mah Jongg

From a gambling game of elder Chinese men to a favorite of the 1950’s Jewish housewives and now a popular game of our time, Mah Jongg is fun for almost all ages and genders.

Join the fun and learn to play American Mah Jongg. Some say 70% luck and 30% skill. Who knows? Once you’ve mastered the basic Mah Jongg skills, it’s fun to play with friends. Open to all synagogue members 15 years and older. All levels!

Mondays from 6 PM to 8 PM at Beth Chaim.

  • Movie Matinee and Snacks

A group of movie fans who meet for a matinee movie monthly on the second Thursday of every month.  We rotate who selects the movie, love to try all movie genres , and enjoy socializing with each other. After each movie we will go out to a local restaurant and enjoy a snack and discuss.

Opening day is Thursday December 12th.

If you’re interested in joining any of these small groups, send an email to: smallgroups@bethchaim.net and specify which group/groups you’re interested in joining.

See you there!
