There will be opportunities to visit churches and a mosque in our community.
9th/10th grade: Teen Space –Creating sanctuary in our ever changing world
Life comes at us at a million miles a minute. How can we take some me out of the craziness to center ourselves and reflect? During this class we will establish a sense of sanctuary. Can Judaism and Jewish teachings really can be used as a lens that may help us make be er choices in life? Judaism has a strong wisdom tradition called Mussar, that suggests how each of us can create our own spiritual curriculum. Our conversations will be in influenced by Jewish values, but will focus on real life issues. We will get specific about the challenges of dealing with parents who are trying to get you to clean your room, or issues that arise in academics, sports, or with friends. Come discover how you might use teachings from Judaism's wisdom tradition to bring some order to a busy, and sometimes overwhelming time.
